Backup & Disaster Recovery

Backups report success, but nobody knows whether the business could actually recover.

When this becomes a business problem

A completed backup job is not the same as a tested recovery plan. Missing systems, inaccessible credentials, and unclear restore priorities can make an outage harder to manage. We help identify what needs protection, set business-led recovery objectives, and plan practical restoration tests.

Signs it is time for a review

  • Backups have not been tested through a representative restore.
  • Recovery priorities and acceptable data loss have not been agreed.
  • Backup access and responsibilities depend on one person.

How we help

  1. 1. Define recovery needs

Identify critical systems, data, dependencies, and stakeholders. Discuss acceptable downtime and data loss before choosing technical controls.

  2. 2. Review protection and gaps

Assess the backup platform, coverage, retention, access, and recovery dependencies. Plan improvements around the agreed objectives.

  3. 3. Test and document recovery

Run agreed restoration checks, record results and limitations, and create recovery steps that responsible staff can follow.

What an engagement can include

  • A backup coverage and recovery-gap assessment
  • Documented RPO, RTO, and restore priorities
  • Recovery test results and an operational recovery plan

The scope, responsibilities, and acceptance criteria are agreed before delivery. Start with your business priorities and current environment; we will identify a practical first step.

Common questions

What are RPO and RTO?

Recovery Point Objective describes how much data loss the business can tolerate. Recovery Time Objective describes the targeted time to restore a service. They are planning objectives that must be tested.

Are Microsoft 365 services automatically covered by our server backups?

Not necessarily. Cloud services and on-premises systems need an explicit coverage review. Check the data, retention, and recovery scenarios included in your current arrangements.
